Just Me and God

The first thing I want to share is this poem that I wrote when I was fourteen. I remember the night I wrote it very clearly. It was during a thunderstorm, and I laid on the sodden ground and welcomed the rain with open arms. After being outside for half an hour I went inside the house soaked to the bone. This is what the Lord gave me that night.

Just me and God
By Emily Kruse

The rain and the breeze
The wind and the leaves
Just me and God
Up in the trees
Leaves and their sound
Crickets on the ground
Just me and God
No other soul to be found

Sound of my tears
Gathered over the years
Just me and God
Fighting my fears

Confusion at hand
Troubles like sand
Just me and God
Something is planned

With a hand of grace
 I see the saviors face
 Just me and God
Descending at a steady pace

The rain has ceased
The wind decreased
Just me and God
My soul released

Asleep on his shoulder
He is my molder
Just me and God
He is my life's holder
